This is surprisingly coherent than you d think The science is undoubtedly questionable even if one adjusts for the decade it was written the 1980s , but the author obfuscates heroically The pseudo science mumbo jumbo he proffers as his basis for belief in magic withstands the casual scrutiny of a non scientist, at least I know it s wrong, but I can t tell you why And that s the mark of good work in this field. On a personal note, I was disappointed that the author discounts the reliability of Rosecrucian texts Burying the decapitated head of a suicide along with some black beans and then arranging for a peasant girl to shell the beans is practical for me than practicing focusing my attention on a blank wall, while imagining a cloud 30 times I guess I should have expected that nothing in this life comes easy.

I received an advanced copy of this book for free through Goodreads First Reads giveaways.I found the premise of the book to be quite intriguing, especially the rear covers description that stated in included Einsteinian physics While the book does discuss matters of of the electromagnetic light spectrum as well as the physiology and psychological functioning on the eye and sight, I did not feel the author truly delved into the realms of science to make his point or warrant the inclusion of the physics on the jacket cover I will also state that, though I am a scientist and skeptical of occult practices, I am still intrigued by their notions and concepts I did read the book in full and was impressed by the amount of sources included throughout the text However, I felt the author could have benefited from another revision as there were portions of the narrative where the author chose to include certain anecdotes that provided little to the narrative These anecdotes also switch tense from a formal one to first person, which was slightly distracting and at times, felt like they were trying to force a point that had been made clearly in a previous statement.Overall, I found the concept of the book interesting, but the delivery and somewhat misleading description off putting As I stated before, I am a skeptic of the occult or ,at least, as it is presented in this book.

I received an advanced copy of this book for free through Goodreads First Reads giveaways.Although I found this book interesting, it was definitely not what I expected based on the blurb on the back While I expected this book to be a discussion of invisibility as a concept in popular culture and high art, this is synonymous with a Wiccan how to book. For what it was, the book was fascinating However, the writing was shaky at best the author does not seem very confident in his own abilities, but is very certain that invisibility is possible with practice and effort.I temporarily thought about treating this as a self help book, but that was a little out of my comfort zone Rather, I have since enjoyed that I became privy to a viewpoint that I wouldn t have sought out otherwise. If you re interested in learning about your own theoretical invisibility capabilities, this book is convincing It was almost persuasive enough for me, but I was overcome with my own sense of logic The historical context, however, was very engaging.

I received this book free as a good reads first read Although I enjoyed the historical content and controversial views of this book, I found it difficult to follow at times and a bit boring in the sense of a textbook.
